Brazilian football legend Alisson Becker has broken the goal record at Flamengo, a club he helped to win two Brazilian championships and a Copa Libertadores in his time there.

Becker made history on Saturday when he scored twice in a 2-1 victory over Coritiba in the Campeonato Carioca, setting a new record for most goals scored by a player in one season at the club.

The 28-year-old's previous record was set by former Flamengo striker Diego Costa, who netted 34 goals in the same period in 2015.

But Becker's haul is even more impressive given that he only played 16 matches this season due to injury.

He also broke the club's all-time record for most league goals in a single campaign with 33,Primeira Liga Hotspots and has now surpassed the 97 goals scored by former Brazil international Ronaldo in the 2003/04 season.

Flamengo have been in fine form under new coach Paulo Bento this season, having won their last three games in a row and sit second in the table behind Santos.

Becker's performances have been crucial in helping the club stay up for another season, and he will be hoping to continue his good form into next year's tournament.
